SETTING UP YOUR HAMMOCK

Having found a couple of trees the right distance apart, the first thing to do is always to put up the waterproof basha sheet in case it starts raining.

Then clear the area underneath with your machete to ensure there are no sharp roots, and no scorpions or other bugs lurking.

Put up the hammock tightly, remembering to slot on the squash ball halves before tying off the cords (see below).

Put up the mosquito net.

Lay out your sleeping bag on the hammock, check it for bugs and tuck the mozzy net in under the bag to create a bug-free area.

Lay out a roll-mat under the hammock to stand on when you take off your boots.
